Sussex Family History Group
Message to Hastings & Rother Members
It was a sad day that I learnt of the need for the HRFHS to be dissolved but when I attended the Extraordinary General Meeting was delighted by the warm reception and the positivity of the members at the meeeting.
The aims of our two organisations are very similar and I believe that you as members can provide a positive input into SFHG and we can provide you all with a continued support in your interest in family history.
As a group we would like to invite you to join our group and the membership fee will be waived for the first year, after that an annual fee of £15 per annum will apply.
There are two ways to achieve this outcome:
-
Load up the Hastings & Rother FHS webpage and log in to the members only area. There you will see a short message from the SFHG and a link to click on to join our group for free for a year. Please fill out the form and follow the instructions and you will be signed up.
-
If you do not have an email address, then please fill out the form we will have posted to you and return it in the enclosed SAE.
As an organisation, we have several meeting centres which hold a monthly meeting. These meetings are held either in the evening or afternoon and generally have a speaker on a subject of interest or a general discussion on a subject agreed by the group. We also have a monthly Web Talk for those unable to attend, or too far from, a meeting centre.
We would be delighted if a member of the HRFHS were to come forward to set up and run a meeting centre within the Hastings area. We would help and fund the necessary expense to set up with the equipment that is needed. If anyone would like more details or would like to discuss, please email me.
The HRFHS website will be maintained for a period in its current form and this correspondence and further information will be shown in the members area of the website.
We produce a magazine, and it would be good if any member would like to write and article about their experiences over the years of the Hastings & Rother society or have tales from their own families that they would like to share with a wider audience. Contact details can be found on the SFHG website.
We believe it is important and will endeavour to value the past contributions and traditions that Hastings & Rother members have made to family history and look forward to working closely with members who wish to join us.
